Smith College Special Collections, Northampton, MA

Social Media Content Intern

July 2019 - Present

Conducting outreach via Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Social media posting
I conduct research into SC's holdings and write social media posts to share said holdings with social media followers, identifying both historically important and visually appealing content. I've also overseen further outreach efforts, like conducting a contest for Smith undergrads and creating virtual jigsaw puzzles featuring Special Collections materials. Fun!
Wikipedia
I co-led a project dedicated to improving Wikipedia coverage and training staff how to edit Wikipedia. Learn more about my Wikipedia efforts on my Wikipedia page.

Lilly Library, Florence, MA

Young Adult Librarian Intern

January 2020 - Januarry 2021

Created, promoted, and conducted programming for young adults. See also: major collection development.

Planned and held a blockbuster online event
Held a virtual event focused on making zines with award-winning graphic novelist Malaka Gharib, with attendance of nearly 50.
Developed a collection of zine-related books
The focus was on empowering teens (and others!) to create their own works. You can view the collection at CW Mars.
Co-founded a Zine Club with Forbes and Jones Libraries
In addition to bi-weekly Zoom meetings we are still organizing "a zine by and for young people" in partnership with the 2020-2021 Feinberg Series: Young Peoople Fighting for Climate Change at UMASS. Read more on the UMass site.
Have you an appointment?
When the library opted to open for by-appointment browsing, I was tasked with researching, customizing, and implementing the system (see site here). I also created an in-depth training document to help train fellow employees.
Literary Magazine
Oversaw, compiled, and designed the summer 2020 literary magazine, which lives on the Lilly Library website!
Collection Development
Took on a project to dramatically weed — and subsequently modernize and diversify an exhisting collection dedicated to teen health and wellness. See my picks at CW Mars.
Dungeons and Dragons
I transitioned this popular IRL program to the web by creating Discord servers for each campaign as well as a "water cooler" server for the dungeon masters to chat and provide feedback.
DIY Zine Guide

This one-page zine example/guide was one of the first things I made and uploaded to the Lilly website, an effort to promote zine-making.
